Full Member - holds positions or qualifications in medicine, public health, nursing and/or other health disciplines and subscribes to the purposes and principles set out in the Constitution.

Membership Subscription
Subscriptions and donations are our only ongoing source of funding, and by paying your subscription you enable OraTaiao to exist and to undertake work to press for immediate, healthy and fair climate action.

Subscriptions can be paid on an annual or monthly basis with an option for automatic renewal.

The legal name that will appear on cardholder statements will be OraTaiao: New Zealand Climate and Health, Incorporated.

Member Benefits
OraTaiao: The NZ Climate and Health Council is New Zealand’s only dedicated climate-health organisation.  Possibly the biggest member benefit is knowing that you enable and support OraTaiao to exist and to undertake work to press for urgent, healthy and fair climate action in New Zealand and worldwide.

Other benefits include:

  • Regular email bulletins/newsletter with information on current climate-health news and events
  • Access to monthly web-conferences and guest speakers
  • Right to attend the annual general meeting to plan and shape climate-health action
  • Right to nominate people for role of executive officer and to vote in annual general meetings

 

Membership Applications and Approval
Membership application forms are taken to the monthly Executive Group meeting for approval.  When membership is approved you will receive a welcome email. In the unlikely event that your membership application is declined, you will be contacted as soon as possible, and your subscription will be refunded.

 

Terms and Conditions of Membership
The Executive Board will have complete discretion in deciding whether to grant membership to applicants. Personal data provided as part of the process of applying to become a Member of OraTaiao: The NZ Climate and Health Council will be managed in accordance with our privacy policy (link).

By becoming a Member, Members agree to support the purposes of OraTaiao: The NZ Climate and Health Council (The Council). Members are expected by abide by the Constitution. A Member may have his or her membership terminated (as per section 13 in the Constitution) if that  Member is breaching the Constitution or acting in a manner inconsistent with the purposes of The Council, or that may bring The Council into disrepute.

The Executive Board will decide the subscription fee a Member must pay in order to become and stay a Member. This fee will be advised on the website and applicable on an annual basis, and will be non-refundable (unless an applicant is declined membership by the Executive Board, in which case any subscription payment will be refunded).

If a Member does not pay the subscription by the date set by the Executive Board, that Member shall have a further period of 28 days to pay the subscription. After the 28 day period, the Member will be assigned ‘Supporter’ status. Supporters will not be eligible for the full range of benefits that are available to Members.  In particular they will not be eligible for a membership certificate, and will not be able to nominate or vote in the annual general meeting.
