OraTaiao: The NZ Climate and Health Council welcomes new members.

We are health professionals advocating for climate healing, people healing. Our core kaupapa is climate justice, health and intergenerational equity, and the well-being of people and planet. We see Te Tiriti o Waitangi as foundational to our mahi. Our health-climate voices and expertise strengthen an equitable, rapid, and regenerative transition for Aotearoa, New Zealand.

Full Member - holds positions or qualifications in health disciplines and subscribes to the purposes and principles set out in the Constitution.

Membership Subscription
The subscription is our only ongoing funding source and enables our mahi toward health-enhancing climate action. We are incredibly grateful for the support of our members who keep us humming. It enables us to employ a part-time coordinator for 10 hours per week to support our team and membership and ensure our meetings, submissions, and newsletters are well prepared for. Our regular newsletters are the best way to stay up to date with OraTaiao happenings and kaupapa being discussed at our Executive Board meetings. Our meetings are open for all members to join.

Subscriptions can be paid on an annual or monthly basis with an option for automatic renewal.

The legal name that will appear on cardholder statements will be OraTaiao: New Zealand Climate and Health, Incorporated.

Member Benefits

Your contribution and engagement contribute to our mission to unite and mobilise climate-health voices for equitable, rapid, and regenerative climate action. OraTaiao provides a respected health-centered perspective to the climate action conversation and our diverse membership enables us to strengthen and activate change in Aotearoa and across our networks worldwide.

  • Access to climate-health resources, research, webinars, and expertise.
  • Regular newsletter with information on current climate-health news and events.
  • Right to attend the monthly Executive Board and annual general meeting and contribute to shaping climate-health action.
  • Right to nominate people for the Executive Board and to vote in annual general meetings.

Membership Applications and Approval
Membership application forms are taken to the monthly Executive Group meeting for approval.  When membership is approved you will receive a welcome email. In the unlikely event that your membership application is declined, you will be contacted as soon as possible, and your subscription will be refunded.

Terms and Conditions of Membership
The Executive Board will have complete discretion in deciding whether to grant membership to applicants. Personal data provided as part of the process of applying to become a Member of OraTaiao: The NZ Climate and Health Council will be managed in accordance with our privacy policy.

Members agree to support the purposes of OraTaiao: The NZ Climate and Health Council. Members are expected to abide by the Constitution. A Member may have his or her membership terminated (as per section 13 in the Constitution) if that  Member is breaching the Constitution or acting in a manner inconsistent with the purposes of The Council, or that may bring The Council into disrepute.

The Executive Board will decide the subscription fee a Member must pay to become and remain a Member. This fee will be advised on the website. It is applicable on an annual basis and is non-refundable.

If a Member does not pay the subscription by the date set by the Executive Board, that Member shall have a further period of 28 days to pay the subscription. After 28 days, the Member will be assigned ‘Supporter’ status. Supporters will not be eligible for the full range of member benefits, specifically, they will not be able to nominate or vote in the annual general meeting.
